Help Henry's Cellar Bar (and staff) survive

Henry's Cellar Bar is in difficulty due to the coronavirus, and we're presently unable to claim any of the financial help that might be available to others. We'd like to make sure our staff are looked after during this crisis, and that we are able to spring back to life with a strong team once it's all over...

Henry's has been part of Edinburgh's music scene since the early 90's and is now one of Edinburgh's few independent venues still alive. Even when we're not hosting live music or DJs we are open until 3am 7 nights a week for our regulars (and strangers who venture down our stairs) and we like to cultivate a sense of community.

I am the current "owner"(of the privilege of paying rent and staff as I like to point out) and only took on that responsibity 4 years ago as I wanted to save the venue I'd worked in for more than 10 years, after it'd changed hands a few times and been run into the ground.

It's been a rocky ride and we ran into debt but with the support of various people (we call them Good Cunts and the company operating the bar is called Good Kunst Ltd) we're still here.  At the start of 2020 we felt we were finally getting where we wanted to be, with regular trade and plenty of advance music bookings, when the coronavirus hit.

Any money raised will go towards paying staff whilst there's no bar income, covering our rent and other bills, and getting back to life once people feel safe going out to see live music again, or just popping down the pub for a pint or two.

We chose Gofundme as the platform as they were the ones taking marginally less of a cut with fees and offering a donor guarantee (plus withdrawals as and when rather than just at the end of the fundraiser, which is going to be needed to pay staff); the 2nd best option would have let us set rewards.  but since we don't even know when we'd be able to deliver rewards it seemed a bit irrelevant.

However if you're donating now and don't mind us keeping in touch, let us know: once we're in smooth waters again we'd like to offer you a Good Cunt badge at the very least, or maybe free entry to an event or 10, or all events of your choice for a period of time; or a membership card, a T-shirt, or even one of those Top Cunts decks of cards we've been talking about for a year (looks like we're finally gonna have the time to design them!)...
