Help Henry Smile Again
Donation protected
From the day our grandson Henry Holod was born 8 years ago, we – Donald and Linda Green – have been dedicated to loving and caring for the little boy with big brown eyes and a sweet smile. Since Henry’s unfortunate bicycle accident on Feb. 23, 2023, our commitment to him is stronger than ever.
While riding bikes with his friends after school, Henry, an experienced rider, squeezed the brake handles as hard as he could to slow down on a hill, but the brakes failed. His bike just went faster. As he rode over a bump, the bike's front fork post came up and violently hit Henry from below.
The force of the impact broke Henry's upper jaw and shoved the three upper front teeth into his sinus. He was transported to three different hospitals including Hershey Medical Center, which referred his case to the renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. At CHOP, Henry underwent the first surgery on his severely damaged mouth and teeth. He will face many years of ongoing dental/surgical treatment.
Through it all, Henry has been such a trooper and we are so proud of him! But when Don and I realized the extent of his injuries, we became utterly heartbroken for the difficult and lengthy healing journey Henry will have ahead of him. It was then that we knew we needed help from our community of family and friends:
- to ask for continued prayer for Henry's healing
- to raise donations that will help alleviate a portion of the financial burden that Henry’s family will incur from this tragic accident.
Donations raised will be used towards the extensive dental care that Henry will need and that insurance will hardly cover. If the damaged teeth do not survive, Henry will need a bone graft taken from his hip. Then for the next 10 years, he will require dental prosthetics to be remade yearly as he grows. When Henry is approximately 19 years old, hopefully, he can be fitted with dental implants. Any additional funds raised may help cover out-of-pocket medical and dental deductibles, travel and lodging expenses to receive medical treatment, and any unpaid leave from work due to appointments and procedures. As you can imagine, the medical and dental costs associated with Henry's injuries will be enormous.
Henry, the son of Nathan Holod, is an inquisitive, funny and creative second grader. Once someone meets Henry, they quickly notice his energy, his preference for saying ‘actually…’ before he tells you interesting facts and his inclination to be both silly and serious. To know Henry is to love him and he is certainly loved by his family, friends and teachers.
Henry spends a lot of time with us. He loves to design and build electric, water and wood projects with Poppy; and he enjoys his time with Mimi making his ‘Henry fries’ and special dipping sauce. The three of us love riding bikes together on the Schuylkill River Trail and of course, Henry is in charge of selecting the snacks we take along. Although Henry wants to be a dentist one day like his Poppy, after his recent hospitalization, he may be inspired to design new patient bedside alarm systems or to be the announcer of hospital codes over the intercom.
Please help us give Henry a future to smile about!
We humbly ask that you give whatever you can to help ease the financial burden on Henry’s family so they can concentrate on his healing and recovery. No donation is too small! And, please share this fundraiser link with your friends and family
With gratitude,
