Hi everyone, Henry is our 5-year-old St. Berdoodle, and if you've ever met him (or followed along with Henry and Theo) you know he's the happiest, sweetest boy. After returning home from vacation, we immediately knew something was wrong. Henry was lethargic, struggling to breathe, and clearly not acting like himself, so we rushed him to the emergency veterinarian. After bloodwork and imaging, we learned Henry had a severe infection and extensive pneumonia affecting both his lungs and the space surrounding them. He had developed both fluid and air around his lungs, was running a high fever, and had lost 12 pounds in just one week.

Because of the severity of his condition, Henry was immediately transferred to a specialty animal hospital, where he underwent a CT scan and had chest tubes placed on both sides of his chest to remove the fluid and help his lungs function properly. At this time, Henry remains hospitalized under the care of a team of specialists, receiving around-the-clock monitoring, IV antibiotics, oxygen support, and continuous testing. While his medical team has identified severe pneumonia, they are still working to determine the underlying cause of his condition so they can provide the most effective course of treatment. We are taking things one day at a time and remain hopeful as we wait for more answers.

The cost of Henry's emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, procedures, and ongoing treatment has already exceeded $10,000, and we know there will be additional expenses as he continues his recovery.
