The nation of Brazil, with some 200 million people, regularly ranks as the deadliest country worldwide for trans people.
Multimedia artist Henrique Souza creates “TRANSPARENTE /NOW YOU SEE ME”. an exhibit where powerful imagery, a short film,
and projections of the daily routine of transgenders individuals, will be immortalized. Henrique is asking for donations to help with the initial production of this new project as well as to provide monthly assistance for food, clothing, and hygiene products for these organizations.
The 3-day Phase 1 project is scheduled to start September 3rd in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil, with daily updates about the production progress, behind-the-scenes
process, and videos from the grateful people that will benefit from the compassion of people like you.
But this can only happen with your mindful contribution.
THE DEATH OF TRANS PEOPLE starts long before the trigger is pulled. The insults, the evictions from home, and the lack of job opportunities create a scenario whereby the lack of public policies leads to suicide and transphobic violence in many cases.
Despite the legal recognition, gay and transgender Brazilians face prejudice and widespread violence in the socially conservative country where powerful churches are highly critical of LGBTQIA+ rights.
Activists say social prejudice has grown under right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro who regularly speaks out against “gender ideology,”
a conservative term used to condemn progressive ideas on sex and gender. People feel legitimized by expressing the hate that has
been encouraged in every speech, in every lack of action, in every manipulation of public opinion regarding gender ideology.
Among this injustice, one can find places, sanctuaries that stand as a beacon of hope and security to many of these wonderful, yet misunderstood, humans who just want a righteous space in society. But these havens depend solely on donations.
Will you kindly donate to this life-altering cause? Even a small contribution can make a big change. A change that our modern world so desperately needs. Please check the links below for more info about the current situation of trans people In Brazil.
