Hemlock is an 8 month old kitten who was born with a heart defect. He needs surgery to create a hole in his pericardial sac, and close off the tube to his Lymphatic system that was causing fluid to build up around his heart and lungs.

It all started when Hemmy was observed to be breathing weird in late September. After a long stay at the emergency vet, it was discovered that he had lymph fluid (chyle) around his lungs. This fluid was removed, but after rechecking with an ultrasound after the removal procedure, more fluid was discovered around his heart. This fluid can’t be removed without surgery, and the previously mentioned procedures have to be done to assure that it doesn’t happen again.

This surgery is costly and we (Hemmy’s parents) have already spent thousands on his diagnosis and ongoing treatment. This final procedure would put an end to his suffering and make it so we can afford it.
