On Friday July 17, the Helix Apartments suffered a devastating fire that left every resident displaced and without their belongings. In a matter of hours, families and individuals lost their homes, clothing, and all the essentials they rely on. The community is now facing the difficult challenge of rebuilding their lives from scratch, and many are struggling to find temporary shelter and basic necessities.

To help these neighbors recover, a team of community members including myself (Vanessa Lee), who live and work in SLP, have partnered with STEP (St Louis Park emergency program) to help the Helix residents. Funds from GoFundMe will be transferred to my account and I will convert that money to gift cards which will be passed on to STEP who have agreed to distribute directly to the residents. Residents may then use these gift cards to purchase essentials they need to start pulling their lives together. Every dollar raised will go straight to those affected, offering immediate relief and hope during an incredibly difficult time.
