Hi, my name is Jessica Eshete, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my cousin, Helina, a loving, compassionate 24-year-old who is currently battling end-stage kidney failure.
Helina is one of the warmest and most caring people I know. She’s the kind of person who lights up a room with her presence, who listens without judgment, and who loves deeply and genuinely. She’s always been there for others now it’s our turn to be there for her.
Just months away from finishing her degree in software development, Helina was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease. Her kidneys are no longer functioning, and she’s undergoing dialysis just to stay alive. The only long-term solution is a kidney transplant, and while she has been approved and placed on the transplant list, the cost of the surgery and ongoing care is overwhelming.
We are trying to raise $40,000 to help cover:
- The transplant surgery
- Hospital and post-operative care
- Lifelong immunosuppressive medication
- Temporary relocation costs to be near the transplant center
- Living expenses while Helina recovers and cannot work
