Help Helen's Family through this Devastating Time
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
This is Ellie’s dad. Ellie is 5 and she has a million best friends in the world because that’s what they teach in you school. Everyone is your friend. But Helen, is really one of Ellie’s besties and this fundraiser is for Helen.
We know Helen because Ellie went to kindergarten with her and now, they’re also in first grade together. We don’t know many of the kids really well in her class but we do know Helen.
If you ever met Helen, you would automatically fall in love with her. She is well loved by her family, teachers, and friends. Helen was a very healthy and happy kid. She was the sweetest. She loved to laugh and play. She loves Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Her mom works from home making jewelry. She went to school every morning with her mom and their baby. We generally got to school around the same time, where Helen and Ellie see each other, give each other big hugs, and go into school together with their other bestie.
On November 26, 2023, Helen Chamorro Yax – 6 years old from PS 48 Mapleton, went into a coma.
Helen had caught a virus that spread to her brain. The doctors couldn’t find out what it was but her condition was slowly deteriorating. There was no sign of improvement and on November 29th, she started having trouble breathing on her own. She was placed on life support and if there was no improvement by December 6th, she would be taken off life support.
At the moment, her swelling has gone down, but she remains in a coma and is still on life support.
This fund is intended to help the family pay for food, rent, medical expenses, and all other costs associated with her condition. Her family is unable to work at the moment to be by her side.
Please help us support Helen and her family in any way you can. Your donation will make an enormous impact in the life of a little child and her family. We are in tough times, and we understand that not everyone can be in a situation to contribute monetarily but please please share.
Thank you so much,
Ellie's Dad
