This is Helen! You might know her contagious laugh, fun-loving attitude, and HUGE heart, but what many people may not know about her is her long and continued battle with epilepsy. The countless hospital trips, the injuries and side effects from her seizures, and the daily exhaustion that this disorder brings is just the tip of the iceberg of what she battles with behind the scenes.

After attempting countless alternative treatments, Helen is now scheduled for DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery that could give her a real shot at regaining her safety and independence. This surgery involves implanting a device similar to a pacemaker into her brain that functions to disrupt abnormal brain activity and stop a seizure before it occurs. Unfortunately, the cost for this procedure would be nearly completely out of pocket and is far beyond what anyone can carry alone.
