Help Heidi Recover from Dog Attack

Donation protected
Last Sunday evening Heidi, a sweet senior rescue dog, was at our local dog park enjoying the late fall weather. Another owner arrived with a white pit bull terrier. The dog brutally mauled Heidi in an unprovoked attack. Heidi has deep wounds on her neck and body. In the frantic aftermath of the attack, Heidi's owner could only try to save her. They were not able to pursue the attacking dog's owner whose identity is unknown. Sadly, they have not taken responsibility for the actions of their dog nor did they provide evidence of rabies.

Heidi is fighting for her life right now. She had emergency surgery Sunday night to close the gaping wounds on her with 30+ stitches. She underwent a second surgery last night to remove dead tissue and further close her wounds.

This has been an unexpected and undeserved financial burden on Heidi's owners. They are still trying to identify the dog who attacked her. If you can contribute $1 dollar or $5 dollars, anything would be much appreciated to help this sweet girl get back on her feet. If you can't donate, prayers and positive thoughts are always welcome as well.

I'd just like to add that this is in no way trying to lay the blame at the breed's feet. The blame should be placed on the owners for their failure to act and take responsibility for the damage their dog inflicted. Pit bulls can be wonderful, loyal family dogs. It's the owners who encourage aggression or fail to properly restrain their dogs when they know the dog has a heightened prey drive.
