I am organizing this for my sister, Heidi. She was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2024. She has completed radiation and almost all of her chemo. She recently moved in with me for unfortunate reasons. When she moved in with me, her doctors changed, and she had to scramble to change everything. She was thankfully in Wellstar, so she just transferred everything from Augusta to up here. Then her insurance changed, and we found out Wellstar didn’t take it, so she had to switch to Piedmont. So, we had to start all over again. She desperately needs a PET scan, but insurance isn’t covering $650 of it, which thankfully isn’t much, but she hasn’t worked since June of 2024. To top it all off, her car that she uses to go back and forth to appointments has broken down. It has been one obstacle after another. She hasn’t had any treatment since her last chemo on December 9, 2024. She was able to get an MRI, and it shows that the mass has significantly shrunk. But she needs a PET scan to confirm it hasn’t spread anywhere else. If it hasn’t spread, they can move forward and remove the mass surgically, which is great news, but $650 stands in our way. The PET scan is scheduled for Monday, February 17th, so just in a couple of days. We are desperate. Anything you can donate would be so helpful, even if it’s just a dollar. Please share; that will help also. If we can reach the goal for her PET scan, anything above that will be to get her car back on the road and help her with her necessities.
