Help Heidi and Sunday Overcome Cancer Costs

Hi, my name is Heidi.

Over the spring and summer months, I have been dealing with the 'C' word (cancer).

After many questions, clinic visits, waiting rooms, and more testing, I have been diagnosed with a radical and unusual type of cervical cancer. The weight of treatment and recovery has become too great to fight alone, and my wife Sunday and I need the help of our friends, family, and community.

The big issue: I have a basic PPO, but we don't have the funds to pay for top-tier insurance and keep up with other basic costs of living. Insurance is only covering a percentage of the costs. After the deductible ($8K), we will still have out-of-pocket expenses to hit ($16K). We have already spent all of our FSA and thousands on tests, appointments, and copays. The estimated cost of radical surgery is $42,000 (including all the attached charges for supplies, meds, anesthesia, etc.).

Recovery will continue for 6-8 weeks post-surgery, and there will be ongoing treatments into the next year and a new deductible/out-of-pocket for insurance. While we are seeking financial aid, we do not know how long it will take to process or what kind of support that will look like.

We have been scraping by the last few months, watching our spending and being careful with the budget (with some help). With the cost of surgery, hospital stay, treatments, and recovery into next year, we now know that the financial impact will be sizable. We need help, and more help than any one person or entity can give.

We are humbly asking for help to raise $75,000 to put toward medical bills, treatments, and to replace personal income during time away from work.
