Help Hedwig’s Hospital Recovery!

Hi! I’m Ally Prince, and I’m hoping to raise support for my cat, Hedwig. I’ve had my 13 year old cutie for 3 years, and bringing her home has made every day better! Hedwig is all cuddles, and equally loves her plush toys as much as chasing her interactive “SmartyKat”.

Unfortunately, she’s now in the hospital and facing multiple medical issues. The visit, boarding, labs, ultrasounds, medications and more are continuously increasing, and I’m advised she’ll need continuous care (medication, prescription food). The doctors are working incredibly hard to treat her, and I’m trying just as hard to support her financially!

Hedwig was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2022. So far, we’ve been able to manage it with prescription food (and extra treats!). Unfortunately, she recently developed asthma and has stopped eating. This prompted a visit to the ER and showed that Bubs has gotten sicker. The doctors found a small mass on her liver, both chronic and acute pancreatitis, a UTI, URI and what could be Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Small Cell Lymphoma. Right now, a biopsy to determine which is too risky to her kidneys. Luckily however, antibiotics and steroids are able to cover most of these issues at the moment! She’s receiving these medications along with that for pain and an appetite stimulant. Her amazing team is confident that while she’s “complex” (who isn’t?), she’s a tough fighter! Right now, with proper treatment I’ve been informed she has a good prognosis.

Hedwig is still in the hospital, and is anticipated a few more days stay. The doctors are continuing to diagnose, treat and stabilize her. I want nothing more than for her to come home! If you have pets, you know how empty your home can feel without them.
