Help Hector Recover After a Serious Accident

Last Tuesday, Hector was involved in a serious motorbike accident in Roatán. While driving, a technical issue caused him to lose control and go off-road. The steep roadside led to a heavy fall that left him with a broken hip, a fractured rib, and cervical stiffness.

After the accident, Hector had to be transported from Roatán to San Pedro Sula to receive medical care. Because of limited funds, this transfer was done by ferry and land instead of by plane, which unfortunately made his condition even more difficult.

Hector urgently needs hip surgery. He is currently in a public hospital, but repeated delays and inefficiencies have prevented him from receiving the operation he should have already had. To ensure he gets proper treatment without further risk, his family wants to transfer him to a private hospital.

Why We Need Help

The surgery alone costs around $6,000 USD, and hospital recovery could add $4,000 USD more. On top of this, Hector will need a nurse by his side 24/7 during his rehabilitation. The total recovery period will take about three months, during which he won’t be able to work or support his family.

About Hector

Hector is only 33 years old and the father of two little boys who depend on him. Just a few months ago, he was beginning two important journeys in his life: starting his own contracting company to build and remodel houses, and helping launch a parrot conservation project in Roatán. Both were efforts not only to build a better future for his family, but also to give back to his community.

Ayuda a Héctor a Recuperarse Después de un Grave Accidente

El martes pasado, Héctor sufrió un serio accidente de motocicleta en Roatán. Mientras conducía, un problema técnico hizo que perdiera el control y se saliera de la carretera. El terreno a un costado era muy inclinado, lo que provocó una fuerte caída que le dejó la cadera rota, una costilla fracturada y rigidez cervical.

Después del accidente, Héctor tuvo que ser trasladado de Roatán a San Pedro Sula para recibir atención médica. Debido a la falta de fondos, este traslado se hizo en ferry y por tierra en lugar de en avión, lo que lamentablemente empeoró su condición.
