In Loving Memory of Hector: Supporting His Family
Donation protected
Hello friends my name is Valeria, and I am posting this on behalf of my cousin, Paola for her father (my uncle). This is Paola’s message for you, “My father, Hector, received the devastating news of being diagnosed with malignant Liver cancer back in November 2022. Over the past year and a half, Hector has shown incredible strength, undergoing 8+ radiation treatments and 10+ immunotherapy treatments, and strict medication and diet regimen. It's been a challenging journey, but he's been fighting with all his might.
There have been ups and downs along the way. Unfortunately, we recently received the disappointing news that Hector was denied placement on the liver transplant list from UCLA and USD due to the aggressive growth of his cancer and inability to operate on the tumor. It's not the outcome we were hoping for, but we won't give up. Throughout these several months, everyone in our household has been working two jobs to support the family, as Hector instilled the value of a strong work ethic within us. We wanted to do all we could to cover these costs. The donations moving forward will help cover the cost of medical and living expenses. Currently, Hector was undergoing treatment with a medication called Cabometyx, which comes with its fair share of serious side effects. He needs to take more time to rest. Sadly, the cancer has returned aggressively, and Hector is currently undergoing treatment for a severe lung infection. He will be transitioning to home hospice care shortly.
Our savings account has been depleted, and that's why we humbly ask for your assistance. Hector has been sober for over 16 years and has dedicated himself tirelessly to create a better life for himself and our family. If you know him, you know he's the kind of person who would drop everything to lend a helping hand. He has the incredible ability to befriend absolutely anyone! He's silly, kind, generous, and my best friend. We're reaching out today because the mounting medical costs and the hope for Hector's recovery require additional support. He's been working tirelessly throughout this entire ordeal because he's still the primary breadwinner of the family. He stopped working about 1 month ago. As for me, I'm about to graduate from my Master’s program, and I'd love for my dad to be there for my graduation in May.
If you've made it this far, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your time. Any donation, no matter the amount, would be immensely appreciated. However, please don't feel obligated to contribute. We firmly believe in the power of prayer and positive intentions. Thank you for your time.”
