Hello, my name is Maria Zavala, and I am starting this fundraiser to help my dad Hector Saul Iraheta Mercado. We are raising funds to help cover the many expenses that come with navigating the immigration system and supporting our family while we remain separated.
My dad Hector was arrested last July by an ICE agent in East Wenatchee and was charged with “assaulting” on an ICE agent. Since then, he has been fighting that case in Spokane County Jail. The court declared a mistrial on March 13 when the jury failed to reach a verdict. He then got a second trial that started June 3 and ended June 8. He was declared not guilty. I have left a few links to articles to know more of his story and what happened last summer.
I want to say that my dad is and has always been an amazing dad and a great role model to my siblings and I. This detention has been incredibly difficult, especially for my siblings, who miss their dad every day. We are doing everything we can to keep our family connected and to ensure he has the legal support he needs during this time.
Donations will help with:
- Retaining an experienced immigration attorney to provide legal representation.
- Transportation, lodging, and other costs
- Communication expenses, including phone calls and other necessities to help stay connected
- Other detention-related expenses and family needs that arise during this process.

Hola, mi nombre es Maria Zavala y estoy iniciando esta recaudacion de fondos para ayudar a mi para, Hector Saul Iraheta Mercado. Estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir los numerosos gastos que conlleva el proceso migratorio y para mantener a nuestra familia mientras permanecemos separados.
Mi papa, Hector, fue arrestado la primera semana de Julio 2025 por un agente de ICE en East Wenatchee y acusado de "agredir" a un agente de ICE. Desde entonces, ha estado luchando contra esos cargos mientras permanecia detenido el la carcel del condado de Spokane. El tribunal declaro la anulacion del juicio el 13 de marzo, ya que el jurado no logro llegar a un veredicto. Despues, hubo un segundo juico que comenzo el 3 de junio y temino el 8 de junio; en el. fue declarado inocente. Quiero decir que mi para es, y siempre ha sido, un padre maravilloso y un gran ejemplo a seguir para mis hermanos y para mi. Esta detencion ha sido increiblemente dificil. Estamos haciendo todo lo posible para mantener a nuestra familia unida y asegurar que cuente con el apoyo legal que necesita durnte este tiempo.
