My name is Joanna, a mother of four, and the wife of a loving and incredibly hardworking husband, Hector.
For over 20 years, Hector has dedicated his life to providing for our family as a truck driver. He works long 12-hour days, starting at 4 a.m. every morning and often not finishing until 4 p.m. Hector has always been the type of person who pushes through anything to take care of the people he loves.
On Thursday, March 5th, our lives changed in an instant.
While off work, Hector was involved in a serious car accident when another driver ran a red light and he struck the passenger side of their vehicle. Even in the chaos of the crash, Hector’s first concern wasn’t himself — it was the children in the other car. He made sure they were safe before even checking on his own injuries.
At first, his injuries seemed manageable. He had a limp and a neck sprain, and like he always does, he tried to push through the pain and continue moving forward, even going back to work that following Monday. But about some days later, on March 11th, new and frightening symptoms began to appear
Hector has started experiencing cognitive difficulties and emotional instability (ranging from depression to fear). His memory is now scattered in fragments. He repeats the same words over and over, and at times he struggles to recognize us, his own family. Seeing someone so strong suddenly facing these challenges has been incredibly heartbreaking.
Hector has always carried the weight of providing for our family, both financially and emotionally. Now, as he faces this unexpected medical hardship, our family needs support more than ever.
We are raising funds to help cover medical care, testing, treatment, and the financial strain that comes with being unable to work during his recovery. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us focus on getting Hector the care he needs and supporting our family through this difficult time.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this incredibly challenging time.
