TL/DR I went to a dealership and got my tires rotated - 3 days later the wheel came off my car while I was driving on I-10.
Friday, February 19th I took my beloved 2010 Honda Insight to a dealership to get an oil change, service inspection and tire rotation before going on a roadtrip to move my best friend to New Orleans.
Saturday I drove with my partner to Swfl.on Sunday we rented a box truck and on Monday the three of us hit the road back to New Orleans. At approximately 4:45pm, just as we were crossing the FL/AL line my car started fishtailing and then I felt the car drop to the ground.I was able to safely navigate it to the shoulder and my partner was able to top the box truck and wait for the tow truck with us. The tow truck arrived around 7pm and by 7:50pm my truck was being dropped off
While stranded on the side of the road I called the dealership and they assured me they would “make it right” if I got it to another Honda Dealership. My roadside assistance was only for 10 miles so I paid the extra money to go to the dealership.
I emptied the car of my important belongings, and my BFFs too and loaded into the box truck to finish our drive. We got back to NOLA around midnight.
The dealership in Alabama has completed the estimate of damages. The dealership in Metairie has decided their most generous offer is to pay the deductible on my insurance. My vehicle is 11years old ad has over 205k miles on it - my insurance company will most likely just total it out. the damages amount to $3000.
I absolutely love my little blue Jellybean of a car. I purchase it in 2015 and put over 150k miles on it driving cross country to work at Renaissance festivals. Thanks to covid I have been out of work for a yearnow. I am not able to finance a new vehicle.
My goal is to raise 3500 so that I can repair my vehicle and pay for any incidentals(ie renting another car to pick mine up in Alabama and GoFundMe fees ). Thank you for reading my story.
