My wife Heather and I are dedicated small business owners in the outdoor tourism industry in New Mexico (bicycle rentals, tours, and repairs) and have a shared passion for each other and everything we do.

Heather unfortunately had spontaneous hemorrhaging in her brain (a stroke) as an unexpected consequence from a very rare (but very necessary) surgery on her past birthday, 4/2. Her surgeon was able to save her life, and since then she has been recovering at an amazing pace, and she finally came home on 7/3/25. This is in large part due to her strength and absolute commitment to recovering. She has not stopped — 15+ hours of intense therapy a week, plus being in an inpatient setting for over three months. This has been a very long and hard journey, but she is persevering.

I have been by her side every day, plus running our small business in Albuquerque and Santa Fe by myself, coordinating marketing, and we are very fortunate to have an excellent team. However, it doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room on the personal side. We’ve been fortunate to have insurance cover Heather’s basic medical care through this and to have great family support, but now she has come home, there are many expenses and items not covered by insurance, and we do not want to lean further on family. We are raising funds for her basic recovery: extra weekly home therapy now home care has ended; to purchase new adaptive equipment & home accessories as she continues to improve (she's now using a walker!); and to help with ongoing medical supplies and equipment that are not covered by insurance.
