To know her, is to love her. Heather has spent her life bending over backward for everyone around her, now it’s our turn to show her some love and care. She’s got a rocky journey ahead, but we all know she’ll ride tough!!

Below is a brief summary of Heather's situation as of February 20:

Heather began experiencing bronchitis-like symptoms back in January and was treated with two rounds of antibiotics and steroids. With no improvement and the loss of her voice, a chest x-ray was ordered on Feb 2, 2024, which showed a 10.7cm mass in her chest. The mass in her chest is collapsing her left lung, causing Heather to be short of breath. It is also affecting the laryngeal nerve which has caused vocal cord paralysis, so Heather isn't able to speak in more than a whisper.

Following the chest x-ray, a CT was conducted on Feb 9, 2024, which showed that in addition to the mediastinal mass, she also has a 3.3cm mass on the right side of her trachea as well as lesions on her liver. She had a consultation with an Oncologist on February 13th where a PET Scan was ordered. Heather will be discussing those results in detail with a thoracic surgeon tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb 21). At this point, however, we are looking at either Lymphoma or perhaps Lung Cancer with a couple more areas being affected. A biopsy will be taken to know more. A subsequent mammogram and ultrasound will be performed on Thursday to rule out cancer in breast tissue.

We'll post another update after the appointment tomorrow, at which time an official diagnosis may be determined as well as treatment options.
