Hi everyone. My name is Heather, and I live with Type 1 Diabetes. Managing diabetes is something that never stops — it’s 24 hours a day, every single day. Our home actually has two people living with Type 1 Diabetes, so we know firsthand how much work and vigilance it takes. An insulin pump is what normally helps keep my blood sugar stable. It automatically delivers insulin and helps prevent dangerous highs and lows. Recently, my insulin pump was damaged when my dog got ahold of a malfunctioning pump that was supposed to be returned. This unexpected cost has been a huge challenge for us. Until I can replace it, I’ve had to switch back to injections, and it has been extremely difficult to control my blood sugar levels. Over the past several nights my blood sugar has spiked dangerously high, even reaching the 500s while I was sleeping. Without the pump regulating insulin throughout the night, I have to wake up constantly to check my glucose and give additional injections. It’s exhausting, stressful, and honestly a little scary. An insulin pump isn’t just a convenience for someone with Type 1 Diabetes — it’s a critical tool that helps prevent serious complications and keeps me healthy enough to function day to day. Unfortunately, the cost of replacing the pump and supplies is more than I can manage right now. That’s why I’m asking for help. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward replacing my insulin pump and the supplies needed to manage my diabetes safely. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also mean so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give. It truly means more than you know.
