Help Heather Recover from Emergency Spine Surgery

Hi everyone,

I'm organizing this GoFundMe for my sister, Heather. I’m all the way across country, I hate that I can’t be there for her at this time. If you know my family, you already know we hate asking for help. Some of you may know her well, others may not—but right now, she’s facing an incredibly difficult and urgent medical crisis.

Our goal is to make sure her rent is paid and the kids get to school for the next few weeks.

On May 8th, Heather is scheduled for major spinal surgery. This is not an optional procedure—it’s an emergency. Without it, there's a real risk she could become paralyzed. The road ahead is long: her recovery will take at least two months away from work, and it will be a year before her spine is fully healed.

On top of the emotional and physical toll, the financial burden is enormous. Heather’s surgery costs $88,000, and she’s responsible for $26,000 out of pocket. This is in addition to her regular monthly bills. She already applied for temporary disability but we all know that sometimes takes weeks or months to be approved and it’s only 85% of your income.

Heather's boyfriend, Dawone, is doing everything he can—working full-time, caring for her, and juggling the kids’ schedules. It’s a heavy load for one person, and they could use some extra support right now.
