Our friend Heather is facing one of the most difficult challenges of her life.

Heather was in Minnesota for a work event when she suffered a severe stroke. Since then, she has had two brain surgeries to remove blood clots and is now recovering from a life-changing medical event. At this point, Heather has no mobility on the right side of her body. She cannot use her right arm, hand, or leg, and she is preparing to begin intensive rehab on Monday.

Right now, Heather is still stuck in Minnesota until she is medically cleared to come home. So much about her future is uncertain. It is not yet known what daily life will look like for Heather after rehab or how much help she will need as she recovers.

Heather has a long road ahead of her. Her recovery will likely require continued medical care, rehabilitation, therapy, and eventually significant support as she transitions back home. Along with the emotional toll this has taken on Heather and her family, there are also many unexpected expenses that come with a serious medical emergency—medical bills, rehabilitation, transportation, travel, equipment, and the changes that may be necessary to make home safe for her.
