Help Heather get Gender Affirmation Surgery !!!

hi. so, after nearly 3 years on the waitlist for Peritoneal Pull-Through Vaginoplasty, i suddenly got an email a few weeks ago saying there was an opening march 8 this year for the procedure. at this stage i had kind of given up hope of getting it anytime soon, as the state of this kind of gender affirming surgery in australia is pretty dire due to long waitlists and very few specialists. the surgeon, kieran hart, is also apparently retiring from this procedure at the end of the year. so when this opportunity arised i jumped at it straight away.

unfortunately due to many life circumstances my finances aren't as secure as i'd like them to be in advance of such a costly surgery. due to being unemployed last year i had to cancel the health insurance plan i'd gotten in anticipation of this surgery. we also got served a notice of eviction back in december and are just now undergoing the process of moving house, paying bond etc which is extremely expensive. so as such the savings i would have liked to have used on this surgery are simply not there.

I'm fortunate to have enough superannuation to withdraw in time for the surgical procedure itself, and supportive family who are able to chip in a bit as well. however, due to now being uninsured i'll have to incur a substantial out of pocket cost for hospital fees and other logistical costs such as accomodation after surgery, travel, treatment of potential complications, so on and so forth.

i can't really articulate how much this surgery will change my life. i had pushed aside this particular dysphoria because the way to solve it seemed so unobtainable, but now that it's within reach the necessity of it is very real to me. this procedure would make waking up every day and interacting with the world much, much easier for me.
