Help Heather Smith Fight Her Toughest Battle Yet

My name is Cadence. I am writing this on behalf of my amazing mom, Heather.

January 21, 2025 my mom and step father were involved in a horrible car wreck. One of the tests done on my mom, a CT scan, revealed a spot on her brain that was concerning. She was referred to a neurosurgeon as well as an MRI for more accurate imaging of the found spot.

March 3rd my mom received the news none of us were expecting. The MRI results showed a tumor located in her right temporal lobe. The neurosurgeon ordered a lumbar puncture to test pressures, this was a painful procedure for her, but thankfully her pressure levels were in normal range. She’s also seen 2 eye specialist for her vision loss she has on the left of both eyes.

All while navigating this diagnosis, Heather has continued to work - operating heavy equipment for a construction company. She plans to work up until the day before her surgery.

On April 24th, 2025 my mom will undergo a craniotomy, where part of her skull will be removed so doctors can remove as much of the tumor as possible. Following surgery, she will face a long and uncertain road to recovery, which will include radiation and/or chemotherapy depending on the biopsy results.

On top of facing this terrifying diagnosis, Heather will be unable to work for an indefinite amount of time. She's incredibly concerned about her ability to cover her living expenses, including her rent and car payment as well as other monthly costs.

For those who know Heather, you know how hard it is for her to ask for help. She’s always helping others when able so I feel this is our time to help her.

My mom is much more than a patient. She’s a daughter, a sister, a friend, a mom, a wife and a fighter.
