Help Heather and Jayson Have A Baby

Donation protected

In October of 2016, we got married. We were and are so excited to be parents together, and to help our kids change the world one day. Heather had been told before by doctors that she might have trouble conceiving based on her medical history, so we decided together to not use contraception, just to make sure we were aware as early as possible if something wasn't working.

This ended up being a good decision. After our first anniversary in October of 2017, with no pregnancy in sight, we decided to make an appointment to explore our fertility. We discovered after some testing that both of Heather's fallopian tubes were completely blocked and unable to function properly in order to conceive- a result of damage sustained from the sexual abuse that occurred in Heather's childhood. We were devastated.

It became clear to us much faster than we had ever anticipated that we would be unable to conceive naturally.

Heather had surgery in January of 2018 to remove the damaged fallopian tubes, which were a medical liability and a danger to her if left in. While we were very glad to be able to afford the surgery and get it done, with it came the sobering truth that there would be no miracle regarding her tubes- with them removed, In-Vitro Fertilization would be our only option to have natural children.

Since then, we've been exploring the finances and science behind IVF. For those of you who don't know, here are some facts.

*** IVF is rarely covered by insurance, and sure enough, we found out last year that ours in particular does not offer even partial coverage. This is slowly changing. Pray for it's continued change so that future couples do not find themselves subject to the situation we're in now.

*** IVF is more effective than people realize for younger couples. Because a lot of couples don't even get the process started until they're well into their 30s, most people are not aware of how good the chances can be at younger ages. If we go in the next year, we have about a 65% chance of conceiving on the first try.

*** IVF is more affordable as you go. The initial round is very expensive because it involves the actual harvesting of the embryos, but once you have them, the process of implanting those embryos into a healthy uterus is much less costly. Lindley Babies 2, 3, etc. will be much more affordable than Lindley Baby 1.

What this all means is that we need your help. Our goal, combined with what we have saved so far, is set a little over what we've been quoted to help cover fees and additional medical bills along the way. If you have any questions, please contact us.

One day, we will have the opportunity to join with others who are struggling with fertility and tell them our story. This campaign, with your help, is the beginning of two lifelong ministries- one, as friends to others who are hurting, and the other as parents to our future children.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
