Help Healthcare hero Justin fight CANCER

This go fund me is dedicated to helping my cousin Shannon and her husband Justin, both frontline workers. Justin had difficulty sleeping and extreme exhaustion going into 2020. He finally scheduled an appointment for March of last year to get this checked out when the pandemic hit and all non-emergency doctors’ appointments were cancelled.

Both Justin and Shannon are therapist who worked multiple jobs during the pandemic, providing care for COVID-19 victims and survivors. They dedicated themselves to helping others during the crisis, putting their own medical needs on the back burner. Just as things were improving nationally, and with both being fully vaccinated, Justin finally felt that he could take a moment to look into his own health concerns.

Through a series of appointments they discovered that he has thyroid cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes throughout his neck. Justin has since undergone surgery and radioactive iodine therapy, which left him unable to work for weeks during the recovery.

Unfortunately both Justin and Shannon’s request for family medical leave was denied due to a clerical error that they had no control over. Both are back at work, with Shannon picking up multiple jobs to pay off their mounting medical debt.

Prior to this unfortunate life event both were working tirelessly to pay off their combined 6 figure student loans, as well as their mortgage. They are left with over 20k in medical debt after insurance covered its limited contribution, with an additional 48k still pending. The couple is at their limit between what they can do to eliminate this debt while also working as many hours as humanly possible, in addition to Justin not being at 100% post treatment.
