Help Healing Heather

Donation protected
In early October, just two weeks after welcoming her first child, Heather started having severe abdominal pains, diagnosed as gallbladder issues, including a lodged stone.  Through the procedure to remove the lodged stone, an abnormal tissue mass was discovered and biopsied to reveal Heather has a rare form of cancer called Low-Grade Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Tumor of the Ampulla.

Treatment for this type of cancer is an aggressive surgery called a Whipple Procedure.  This procedure removes the tumor along with approximately 15% of the stomach, 10% of the pancreas, a portion of the small intestine, the gallbladder, and the surrounding tissue and lymph nodes.  Heather will spend approximately one week in the hospital with another four-six weeks of hard recovery and up to six months of healing before she will start to feel like herself again.  The surgery is Monday, March 2, 2020.

Many family and friends have asked what they can do to help during this difficult time, so we created This GoFundMe account to make it easy to give, if you would like.  The funds raised will help to take care of Heather, her husband Matt and their adorable new son Mason while she recuperates and heals after the surgery.   We have created a Caring Bridge page to keep everyone updated on her journey.  Please click here  to be directed to her Caring Bridge page.

Thank you for keeping Heather in your thoughts and prayers.
