Help heal puppy Luna's heart

Hoi, mijn naam is Claudia. Eind juli tijdens een vakantie roadtrip vonden we Luna als kleine pup langs een verlaten weg. Ze was helemaal alleen, geen moederhond en geen andere pups te bekennen. We vermoeden dat ze is achtergelaten. We namen haar mee in de hoop haar bij een opvang achter te kunnen laten. Helaas was dat in de korte tijd dat we er nog waren een lastige opgave. Gelukkig konden we haar achterlaten bij de accommodatie waar we verbleven en het gezin dat dit runt. Helaas kon ze nog niet mee naar Nederland omdat ze nog maar twee maanden was en nog geen chip of inentingen had. Ze kon tijdelijk verblijven bij een hele lieve vrouw die haar tot die tijd kon verzorgen en haar klaar kon maken voor de reis naar Nederland.

Op 7 september vloog ik naar Athene om haar op te halen! De reis was een spannende onderneming, maar Luna deed het ontzettend goed. Ze sprong op Schiphol uit de reisbench alsof er niks aan de hand was! Klaar voor haar nieuwe leven.

Ik vond het belangrijk om naar de dierenarts te gaan in Nederland voor een goede medische check. En daar kwam het slechte nieuws.. Luna heeft hartruis. Aan het gezicht van onze dierenarts te zien was het foute boel. We maakten zo snel mogelijk een afspraak bij een dierenkliniek. Hier is gebleken dat haar hartruis wordt veroorzaakt doordat haar PDA-ader (patente ductus arteriosus) niet is gesloten na haar geboorte. Schrikken! Het goede nieuws was dat er wel een operatie mogelijk is. Van de twee verschillende opties hebben wij besloten de minst risicovolle te nemen. Deze is helaas ook duurder. Het onderzoek dat ze heeft gehad samen met de operatie, komt uit op ruim €4000. Dit hebben we er helemaal voor over, maar het is ook heel erg veel geld om in een keer te betalen. Er zit flinke spoed achter de operatie omdat Luna's hartje al erg is gegroeid. Waarschijnlijk wordt ze over 2 weken geopereerd.

Daarom willen we kijken of we voor een deel van de operatie geld kunnen ophalen. Mocht je een kleine bijdrage kunnen missen om de operatie van Luna's hart te steunen, dan zijn wij je enorm dankbaar!

Hi, my name is Claudia. At the end of July, during a holiday road trip, we found Luna as a little puppy along an abandoned road. She was all alone, with no mother dog or other puppies in sight. We suspect that she was abandoned there. We took her with us in the hope of leaving her at a shelter. Unfortunately, that was a challenging task in the short time we were still there. Fortunately, we were able to leave her with the accommodation where we were staying and the family that runs it. However, she couldn't come to the Netherlands with us yet because she was only two months old and hadn't received a microchip or vaccinations. She could temporarily stay with a very kind woman who could take care of her until she was ready for the journey to the Netherlands.

On September 7th, I flew to Athens to pick her up! The journey was a big adventure, but Luna did incredibly well. She hopped out of the travel crate at Schiphol Airport as if nothing had happened! Ready for her new life.

I thought it was important to visit a veterinarian in the Netherlands for a thorough medical checkup. And there came the bad news... Luna has a heart murmur. Judging by our veterinarian's expression, it was not a good at all. We quickly made an appointment at an animal clinic. It turned out that her heart murmur is caused by her patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) not closing after birth. The good news is that there is a surgery option available. We chose the less risky of the two options, which unfortunately is also more expensive. The examination she underwent, along with the surgery, amounts to over €4000. We are willing to do whatever it takes, but it's also a substantial amount of money to pay all at once. There's a sense of urgency for the operation because Luna's heart has already grown considerably. She will likely undergo surgery within two weeks.

That's why we want to see if we can raise some money for a part of the surgery costs. If you can spare a small contribution to support Luna's heart surgery, we would be immensely grateful!
