Hi, my name is Heather Filson and I’ve created this GoFundMe for my nephew Noah, brother Jared and sister-in-law Hanna.

This is Noah Emerson Lovett.

Noah was born with a rare congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) as well as Ventricular Septal Defect (VDS). Unlike the typical display of TGA, this defect has been further complicated by one of the arteries being smaller than normal. This requires an invasive procedure to help open and expand the artery to allow proper blood flow, as well as reversing the switched arteries. He will likely need some artificial components temporarily and will require more surgeries as he gets older.

Noah’s surgeons were hopeful that a less-invasive, preemptive procedure may have given him the chance to go home first and give him time to grow and get stronger before having the open-heart surgery he requires.

Unfortunately, this proved to be unsuccessful. He has now undergone the open-heart surgery to correct the TGA with wonderful success but it is only the beginning of his fight.

The shock and stress of this unexpected and unknown heart defect, has been incredibly difficult to digest. Noah has been in the NICU since birth and will remain there for a few more weeks while he recovers from his recent surgery. This has resulted in addition time away from work and Jared and Hanna now have the added stress of figuring out how to handle all of the medical bills associated with a long-term hospital stay with specialized care.
