Help Melisa Fight 8 Tumors & End 13 Years of Pain

Melisa Arriaga, a humble and beautiful soul from Honduras, started out as a nanny to my two children and since has become like family to us. Run out of her country by powerful and corrupt men threatening her life, she lost everything – her job, her home, all her personal possessions with no ability to return and visit family again. Here she has had to start over in a new country with her husband, her difficulties more painful than I could ever imagine or handle on my own– and this is just the beginning of her story.

For 13 years, Melisa has struggled with an issue of blood. I like to think of her as the woman in the Bible who “spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any” (Luke 8:43). Her whole life she has dreamed of becoming a mother and enjoying the tenderness that having a child brings – but instead of children, she holds medical bills, hospitalizations, elevated prolactin levels, weight gain, anemia, biopsies, curettages and countless intrusive tests. Inspiringly, her hope has never diminished.

 

In November 2021 she finally received answers, her problems are two-fold: 7 fibroids (tumors) in her uterus and a 5x7 mm pituitary tumor in her brain.

 

Devastation is an understatement.

 

On December 27, 2021 she must undergo a major surgery to remove her uterus.

The year 2022 will be focused on treating the brain tumor. The doctors are studying the tumor, concerned about its possible malignancy. They will perform repeated procedures to determine how quickly it is growing. The future holds countless tests, MRIs, and a possible brain surgery.

 

The cost for treatments, procedures, and surgeries is astronomical. Sadly, she will not be able work to offset these costs during treatment and recovery. My heart breaks to think what this will do to her and her husband financially.

 

Despite her many challenges, her faith in God is unmoved. Her optimism and love for life brings me to tears. She, like the woman in the Bible, may not be able to touch “the border of [Christ’s] garment” and be healed…BUT I firmly believe that all reading this - whether you know her or not – can be His Hands in healing someone who has suffered so long. We can be her miracle. With her faith, and your kind generosity, will you help to make her “whole”?

Melisa Arriaga, un alma humilde y hermosa de Honduras, comenzó como niñera de mis dos hijos y desde entonces se ha convertido en una familia para nosotros. Huyo de su país por hombres poderosos y corruptos que amenazaban su vida, ella perdió todo: su trabajo, su hogar, todas sus posesiones personales sin la posibilidad de regresar y visitar a su familia nuevamente. Aquí ha tenido que empezar de nuevo en un nuevo país con su esposo, sus dificultades son más dolorosas de lo que jamás podría imaginar, y este es solo el comienzo de su historia.

 

Durante 13 años, Melisa ha luchado con un sangrado. Me gusta pensar en ella como la mujer en la Biblia que padecía de flujo de sangre y "había gastado en medicos todo lo que tenía y que por ninguno había podido ser curada" (Lucas 8:43). Toda su vida ha soñado con ser madre y disfrutar de la ternura que conlleva tener un hijo, pero en lugar de hijos, ha tendio facturas médicas, hospitalizaciones, niveles elevados de prolactina, aumento de peso, anemia, biopsias, legrados e innumerables pruebas invasivas. Es inspirador que su esperanza nunca ha disminuido.

 

En noviembre de 2021 ella fue diagnosticada con 7 fibromas (tumores) en su útero y un tumor pituitario de 5x7 mm en su cerebro.

 

El decir que estaban devastados no es suficiente para expresar lo que estaban sintiendo.

 

El 27 de diciembre de 2021 debe someterse a una cirugía mayor para extirpar su útero.

El año 2022 se centrará en el tratamiento del tumor cerebral. Los médicos están estudiando el tumor, preocupados por su posible malignidad. Realizarán procedimientos repetidos para determinar qué tan rápido está creciendo. El futuro depara innumerables pruebas, resonancias magnéticas y una posible cirugía cerebral.

 

El costo de los tratamientos, procedimientos y cirugías es astronómico. Lamentablemente, no podrá trabajar para compensar estos costos durante el tratamiento y la recuperación. Mi corazón se rompe al pensar en lo que esto les hará financieramente.

 

A pesar de sus muchos desafíos, su fe en Dios no se conmueve. Su optimismo y amor por la vida me hace llorar. Ella, como la mujer de la Biblia, tal vez no pueda tocar "el borde del manto [de Cristo]" y ser sanada ... PERO creo firmemente que todos los que lean esto, ya sea que la conozcan o no, pueden ser Sus Manos en la curación de alguien que ha sufrido tanto tiempo. Podemos ser su milagro. Con la fe de ella y la amable generosidad de ustedes, ¿ayudaría a que ella sane?
