Help Heal Lucy, His Heart's Last Connection

I am raising funds for a friend who has gone through so much in the past few years and just needs a little help with a sick dog.
He would be mad at me if he knew I was doing this, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
After 35 years together, he lost the love of his life very suddenly to a blood clot and has struggled with a grief so deep it defies words. His only saving grace, the only thing that got him through, was Lucy, the pitty they rescued together and loved so much. They didnt go out or party or spend on frivolous toys, on days off their main pleasure was to take the dogs out into nature and spend time with each other and the pittys. Lucy even slept in the bed with them. With her. Shes the last living link to a lifetime of memories, She is his last link to his true love and now needs immediate care. She has a suspected intestinal blockage and may need surgery. I fear that if anything were to happen to her, he wouldn't survive another loss. They both were great pit parents and as long as I've known them, sadly now just him, they've always maintained a pair of rescues and those lucky dogs lived like spoiled children. The dogs had beds and couches and got meals cooked daily. They went in the car every day and went hiking and swimming and on all manner of adventures. Their dogs were members of the family and were always very well taken care of, as anyone will tell you. He even had a kids' book published telling the adventures of the rescued puppy, listing her as co author to memorialize her name and to show the world how much he loved them both. The dogs never wanted for a thing, but as you may know, when one person passes suddenly, it causes all kinds of mental and financial turmoil. This is a guy who was always there for anyone who needed anything. Pets that needed saving or people who needed rides or money, a place to sleep, or just a compassionate ear, they both were like that and that's how I came to know them. I was a co-worker in a bad way, and their kindness started a 20-year friendship. I know of at least two instances where he would go buy food and go trespass to feed dogs on short chains left outside. He didn't care about the risk and would continue to do so until repeated calls to report abuse resulted in rehoming them. He has always gone above and beyond to help both beast and man and now needs just a fraction of all that good he put out there to be repaid. He may never talk to me again, but it's a risk I'm willing to take because I know if anything happens to her now, the result would be a disaster, it would destroy him. This isn't a scam and I am not setting a goal of thousands like the program suggested, Just trying to help a friend whose pride wouldn't permit him to ask for help. A friend who has always had my back. One who rarely asks for anything but is always the first to offer. These are the reasons why I AM asking, and ANY amount will help save them both.
Thank you.
