Help Heal Jennifer

Hello- My name is Anne Marie Nelson and Jennifer Miller is my sister and also my very best friend. She is recently facing a horrific health crisis.

 

In mid August, Jennifer began having severe abdominal pain. After a visit to urgent care, she was diagnosed with diverticulitis and sent home on oral antibiotics. Less than one month after completing the medication, she suddenly became desperately ill, and landed in the ER. Within a few hours she was admitted to the hospital with a perforation (hole/tear) in her colon, along with a severe and potentially life threatening infection. Her surgeon hoped that with strong IV antibiotics they could get her infection under control. The best case scenario would have been that Jennifer could then heal at home and have elective surgery in December to remove the part of her colon that was forever damaged. After 7 days in the hospital, she was discharged to try and heal at home. After only TWO WEEKS, the infection returned, significantly worse this time, and she was admitted for urgent surgery. On September 30th, Jennifer underwent major and extensive surgery to remove a large portion of her colon. She was fitted with a temporary colostomy with plans to have reversal surgery in 6 months. This will require another major surgery at an even bigger hospital with a higher level of care. Because of the significant and dangerous infection, she spent an additional 7 days in the hospital after surgery. Jennifer has not been able to work since September 7th. She has spent a total of 16 days in the hospital and has accumulated thousands of dollars in medical bills… and yet she faces another surgery in 6 months. She has health insurance but also has a very high deductible.

If you know Jennifer, she has a heart that is too big for her chest! She has helped and WILL help anyone in need. She is a joyful and beautiful soul who would do anything for anyone.
