Help Heal Copper! Any Amount Counts to New Knees!

Donation protected
In Short:
Copper has a FULL CCL tear in his RIGHT rear leg, and a PARTIAL CCL tear in his LEFT rear leg. We are asking for any help to finance his surgery which is scheduled for 12/28/23. Any possible donation would be so very much appreciated, and would give this sweet pup the gift of new knees and to walk and run and play again! Please give whatever you can, whether it be $1, $5, $10, $20, or $100. ANY amount is more than no amount. Any donation will contribute to this little guy getting new knees and back on all four feet. 100% of all donations will go to the surgery

More info on the situation:
Copper is a 6-year old sweetboy and he lives for a walk and to play. His favorite toy is his red rubber frisbee and he absolutely loves to fetch. He's incredibly fast, and will continue to run and run after balls and toys (we call them his "get-its" because when we throw them we say "get it" as he unleashes his impressive speed).

Unfortunately, this is where we've encountered trouble. He started limping after playing and walks in mid-October. We had him x-rayed and the diagnosis was a partial tear of the rear left CCL - the equivalent of the ACL in humans. It's a common medical problem in dogs, however it is painfully expensive to fix. One surgery equates to roughly $4k. We were quoted at $6.5k due to the specific animal hospital we initially had him looked at. Without pet insurance, which we do not have, that's a big chunk of change to pull from nowhere. He was still walking and enjoying light play here and there, so we slowly started saving and planned to have the surgery done sometime when it became un-livable for him or he seemed in heavy duty pain.

Fast forward to 12/15... I'm a nurse and I work 12hr shifts. I left for work that evening around 6:15pm after walking the dog. The girlfriend is also a nurse, however she works day shift from 7am-7pm. She got home around 8pm and immediately noticed he is unable to put ANY weight on his rear RIGHT leg. We don't have inside cameras and were unable to see what happened or how the hell he injured himself, and thought maybe he tweaked it in a strange way somehow and that he may be able to put pressure on it after some time. Upon arriving home the following morning I realized "Oh shit, it's not gone, it's worse than I had hoped, this is serious".

After taking him in for X-rays that evening, we were informed he now has a FULL CCL tear in his RIGHT rear leg, and a PARTIAL CCL tear in his LEFT rear leg :( He is not bearing any weight on the right leg and is able to bear some weight on his left, however the left was the one that was initially bothering him and had a partial tear! I fear any weight he bears on the left (partial) could cause that partial tear to snap and become a full any minute :((

I'm making this GoFundMe because he will 100% have to undergo surgery in the coming week. They will do repair both tears all at one time, so we can minimize the trauma of double-recovery (fix the full tear now, let him heal for 6weeks, then complete the next, heal for another 6 weeks - basically not be able to walk for 2-3months total). Having the bilateral CCL repair all at once also decreases the cost, however it will make the recovery more difficult. The estimate that we were quoted for the surgery is $9000.00. I have some money set aside, as does the girlfriend, but even combined we do not have this amount.

With our financing, as well as help from my brothers and parents, and the my girlfriend Jess' parents, we believe we need roughly $5000.00 help from any and everybody that is willing to donate. Putting him down is NOT an option, as this sweet smart animal is the reason I go to work everyday: to pay rent for a house with a backyard, to buy toys and food and go on hikes and to the park with this boy! He has life to live, and I'm certain he has at least another 5-8 years left in him. He's healthy and intelligent, he just loves to run and sometimes goes too hard in the paint! With CCL repairs, full recovery is possible. If I can do anything to help him get there and to get back on his little paws and run after balls and chase squirrels in the backyard that perch on the fence teasing him - I will do it. I'll do whatever I can. And with ANY AMOUNT that you can give, it will be so appreciated. Please give whatever you can, whether it be $1, $5, $10, $20, or $100. ANY amount is more than no amount. Any donation will contribute to this little guy getting new knees and back on all four feet. 100% of all donations will go to the surgery, which is set to take place on 12/28/23.
