Help Heal Carol

Whenever Carol hosted our book group, she’d have each of us do a “check-in” before any book-talk. For Carol, our gathering was about community first. A few days ago, Carol was diagnosed with a cancer that has spread into her lymph nodes. She has just begun six weeks of chemo and radiation. Over the next 4-5 months she will not be able to work and due to limitations of Medicare, will not be able to get treatments like acupuncture that can help reduce the pain of chemotherapy and radiation. It’s our turn to put community first and help Carol through a challenging chapter in her life.

Carol has touched so many of our lives at the core. We’ve been part of her rituals. Some of us she ushered into marriage. We’ve put down our forks and knives to listen to her poetry recitations. We’ve swam, danced, laughed, and cried with Carol. Now it’s time to surround her with support on every level.

We’d like to raise $15,000 to help Carol pay rent, buy groceries, hire help as needed, and enable her to obtain additional health care to manage the effects of the cancer treatments. We want her to marshal her energies for health and the “Greatest Good” as she puts it. She lives in Boulder now, far from many friends, but we will make our presence felt.
