Help Heal Brayker-Bear

Donation protected
(Update 4/17/17 10:30pm) Thank you everyone who has donated. We have raised a good amount in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, Brayker has crossed the rainbow bridge this evening. This page will continue to be available for anyone else who is willing to donate towards the medical costs. Again, thank you so much everyone for making this happen.

Brayker's medical bills have continued to climb well over $3000 and counting... If you know Sheila, he is her world. If you could take a moment to read/share/donate it would mean everything to her. Sheila has the biggest heart as well as Brayker. We want to help them get throught this rough time. All of the money raised will be paying for Brayker's medical bills and medication he will need.
Their story is below...

Brayker was diagnosed with tick born disease and possibly a fungal virus. He woke up last Wednesday morning, his back right leg wasn't working. He was dragging it around.  Sheila thought maybe he hurt it somehow. Called the vet, told her to watch it for a couple of days. When she went home weds night, he was worse. He looked like a tipsy boy who was stumbling everywhere. They went to bed that night, knowing she'd call the vet in the morning again. They woke up Thursday morning and Brayker was unable to use both of his back legs. Sheila immediately took him back to the vet and they were advised to go see a radiologist to get a cat-scan. Neurologically his brain wasn't conveying to his back legs to operate. Something was wrong with his spine. Within hours, he couldn't walk. He was rushed to the doggy E.R. and sent in for blood work, lab tests, the whole nine yards. He was admitted and advised to stay the night. Sheila thought: "I was so scared. What the hell was happening to my baby?" The doctor had so many "could be's". That evening she was informed that because he was rescued from New Mexico he would be tested for Tick Born Disease (a common disease found in pets from New Mexico). The tests came back positive. He was placed on steroids and antibiotics. He had a spinal tap done on Friday, and was recovering.  Sheila got a call that evening to come and get Brayker and she should see improvement in a couple of days. Sheila took him home, and she was elated. "I was going to get my bear better." She says. Sheila arrived home with Brayker, made him comfy and cuddled him all evening. They went to bed that night and had a pretty rough night. He couldn't sleep, he was agitated, confused, not all there. "He would look at me and look right through me." She says.  He barely responded to her voice. He couldn't control his potty, and literally stared off into space for hours. We woke up Saturday morning and went right back to the ER. The doctor saw us coming in and knew. He put her in a room, as she cried and waited. The Doctor came back in and said; "I'm so sorry, he took a turn for the worst. We are upping his meds and hooking him up to a catheter. He will have to spend another couple nights here to be monitored as he has no movement from his chest down. The infection is very bad and taking over his body." Sheila was terrified, unsure if he will live. It is unimaginable. She cried and cried: "I can't lose my baby. He's my world. My everything." He is still in the hospital until he gets strong enough to come home. She says: "My baby boy doesn't hold a dollar amount in mommy's eyes. Mommy will figure it out. He just has to keep fighting. He can't give up. I am so scared I'll get the unthinkable phone call. But i have so much love, hope and faith in my little super hero. He will make it. I have to believe that."
