Bert, age of 54, was admitted to the hospital on July 5th, 2019 after seeking medical attention for what appeared to be complications from an infection he’d been fighting in his foot. He was admitted after suffering severe stomach pain which was believed to be a side effect of heavy antibiotics he was on.
After further testing doctors came in and informed him they needed to prep him for emergency surgery. They discovered a perforation in his intestines which was causing him the terrible pain and his system to be septic.
Along with the perforated intestine, it turned out that the infection which was being treated in his foot made its way into the bone. As a result of this, his big toe on his left foot had to be amputated. He went through 2 surgeries within the first week. During his 2 week stay in the hospital, he had several procedures done to try to drain fluids and abscesses in his stomach and intestine along with a multitude of tests. During recovery he will be seeing several specialists and doctors to help him through his healing and recovery process.
We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this journey. If you are able and feel inclined to help, please donate here.
