Headstart Nursery is on the move!
As we have all experienced, it has been a very tough couple of years. In the nursery’s case it recently got a lot tougher. After remaining open for keyworker families during the pandemic, they received a further challenge with the news that their landlord of eighteen years had decided not to renew their lease.
The property search was on and boy, it was a big search! We are pleased to say that an alternative location at Skypark, in Finnieston, has been found.
As parents and former parents, we are absolutely delighted that the nursery has the opportunity to continue to provide the loving care and family support for which they are well known.
Headstart started off as a small nursery with a handful of staff and a very bouncy group of children. It soon took root and bloomed into a service that could accommodate many siblings, making it an ideal one-stop-drop/pick-up service for families both from the local area and further afield. We know the team has loved getting to know our families as one, two, three and four of our children spend their formative early years at Headstart. We love that the staff are part of our families’ lives for, in some cases, more than fourteen years! You can see how delighted they are when former pupils pop in for a visit and staff find out how they are doing and what their plans are. Education is such an adventure and the Headstart team clearly love being there at the beginning.
The nursery ethos has always been about relationships and once you join the Headstart Family you are a member for life, whether you like it or not!
As you can imagine, moving a nursery of this size is a large and complicated undertaking. It would be best to have as seamless a transition as possible in order to maintain the children’s continuity of care and the families’ work cover requirements. Additionally, the new site has outdoor space that the team is very keen to update and further develop. Given the current circumstances, it is more important than ever that the outdoor space suits our children’s needs.
As this is an unplanned event and there has been very little time to fundraise, a suggestion has been made that a funding page would be helpful. We would like to invite you to be part of this.
Any help with the next chapter of the Headstart story would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Grant, Siofra, Laura and Colin
