Hi, my name is Nadia Muñoz. I’m a single mother with two children, 3 cats, and our latest addition, Hazel.

Our family was blessed with Hazel after she was dumped at our house in October of 2024 as a puppy, extremely emaciated and with a wounded eye. She was a very nervous and scared puppy initially, but we could tell she was the sweetest baby ever. We were able to nurse her to health, and she grew into a very loving, strong, and active pup.

This Christmas Eve, after visiting some family, she escaped out of their backyard after hearing some fireworks, and we found out she was shortly hit by a car. We could not find her for 2 days in a neighborhood very far from our home, knowing she was hurt and terrified and possibly not alive, but I refused to give up looking for her. After 2 days of nonstop searching, I finally found her. She was unable to walk, very noticeably hurt, and scared. I am still amazed I found her.

We immediately took her to a nearby vet, and they determined she had multiple fractures on her pelvis, a dislocated hip, and had multiple skin abrasions throughout her body. She will need surgery to walk again and is currently hospitalized as she will not be able to easily pass food, unable to walk, and with high inflammation.

My children and I fell in love with this angel. She means so much to our family, and we have been so devastated this Christmas thinking we lost her and feeling helpless knowing she was suffering. After finally finding her, I am willing to do anything to help her recover. However, money was already very tight for us in the last couple of years being a self-employed artist, and I am running out of options.
