There’s no easy way to share this—Hazel and Bud Simpson's home is completely gone. This home was built in the early 1940s by my grandfather Brad Asher and was our family homestead from the 1940s to the early 1980s, and then my Aunt Maxine Asher sold the house to Bud and Hazel where it was their family homestead for decades.
Monday, June 2, 2025, started out as a normal day. Hazel and her son Eric stepped out for dinner to get something to eat. Security footage from her cousin’s camera shows they left the house at 4:43 PM. Just six minutes later, smoke appeared. By 5:01 PM, everything was gone. In less than 20 minutes, their family home was reduced to ashes.
The family is heartbroken and overwhelmed. After losing Bud just last year, this loss cuts even deeper. Tragically, they also lost their two beloved dogs, Lyla and Ryker, who were inside at the time. They were family, and their absence is immeasurable.
We are beyond grateful that no one was physically hurt, but the emotional and material toll is devastating. Hazel now has nothing—no clothes, no personal belongings, no place to return to.
We’re asking for your support to help Hazel rebuild and recover. Every little bit helps—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer. Thank you for standing with us during this heartbreaking time.
