Help Hazel Get Urgent Surgery

I am trying to raise funds for my sister, Hazel Woodcock, to get urgent leg/hip surgery. Two weeks ago she had a fall on the Cape Verde island of Sal where she has lived and worked for some years. She was taken to a Sal hospital where it was discovered that she has a break in her femur adjacent to her hip. This requires urgent surgery to join the bones together.

However the Sal hospital has neither the facilities nor the doctors to carry out such an operation. It was proposed that she be flown to the main CV island of Santiago where the hospital in Praia can do the procedure. However the cost of the flight is many thousands of Euros and, unfortunately, Hazel does not have the means, nor any appropriate insurance, to pay such a bill - a bill that is likely to grow with medical costs.

So, whilst she has sought alternatives (with help from her friends), she has been kept prone in her hospital bed (including on her 70th birthday last week!) and two weeks have elapsed without reaching a solution. It is becoming ever more obvious that she must go to Praia's hospital and, given the passing time, it is urgent that she has the operation soon.
