Hello! My name is Sanaullah Qadir, and I’m helping Hazeera raise funds for an opportunity of a lifetime. Since GoFundMe is not available in her country, Pakistan, I’m hosting this campaign on her behalf. Here’s her story penned down by her:

Warm Greetings to the one reading this!

My name is Hazeera Muhammad Hashim. I am a 19-year-old Computer Science sophomore at Habib University in Karachi, Pakistan, where I study on a 100% merit-based scholarship. Today, I’m both nervous and hopeful to share that I have been selected for a life-changing opportunity: The Stanford International Honors Program (IHP) 2025.

Selected out of a pool of 100+ exceptionally talented applicants after a competitive selection process, I am beyond grateful to receive a 75% scholarship through Habib University’s Learn Abroad Program, making me 1 out of 6 others to receive a scholarship. While Habib University has generously funded a large portion of my expenses, I still need your support to cover the remaining costs of this opportunity, which is a big challenge for me, given my humble background.

My Story:

“Mature.” Growing up, I used to resent this word whenever it was used to describe me. It felt less like a compliment and more like a box I was being put into. A label that implied I was too serious, too grounded, too sensible to be fun. As if being mature meant I couldn’t be spontaneous. That laughter, lightness, or even a moment of silliness would somehow contradict the image people had of me.

I am the eldest grandchild, the eldest of four sisters, and the first in my family to step into a university. For me, navigating life has always meant figuring things out on my own. From middle school to high school and now in university, every decision, whether academic or otherwise, has been shaped by my own trial and error. I had no roadmap, no older sibling or cousin to guide me, only my instincts and a growing sense of responsibility.

And I carry that responsibility not just for myself, but as a woman in a country where patriarchy still deeply shapes expectations. Every step forward has felt like a quiet rebellion, whether it be choosing education, choosing ambition, or choosing to believe that I can be both strong and joyful, both responsible and free-spirited.

So now, when someone calls me “mature,” I still hear the weight in the word, but I no longer shy away from it. Because I know that maturity, for me, isn’t about being less fun or more rigid. It’s about showing up when it matters, making space for others, and leading the way even when no one has walked the path before me.

My journey has even surprised me. What began as a need to prove myself has become a drive to constantly improve. In high school, I was named Student of the Year, received the Best Meta-Curricular Award four times, and earned High Merit Excellence Awards for scoring 8 A-1s in Matric and 7 A-1s in Intermediate. These achievements were more than just recognition; they were proof that my efforts were making a difference.

Today, I serve as the President of Habib University’s Student Government, only the second woman to do so in the university’s history. It’s a responsibility I carry with pride. My journey is supported by the 100% merit-based HUTOPS Scholarship, which has made it possible for me to pursue my education without financial barriers.

Beyond my campus, I’ve had the privilege of representing myself and Pakistan on larger stages:

• As a fully funded scholar for the AFS Global STEM Accelerators 2022, selected in the top 1% out of 9,000+ applicants by AFS Programs and the University of Pennsylvania.
• As a recipient of the Saida and Firuz Rasul Scholarship by Aga Khan University, where I was chosen among the top 50 out of 700+ applicants for a fully funded residential program.
• As a global finalist for Destination Imagination, competing in both the USA and Dubai.
• And as a researcher with the New York Academy of Sciences, where I was accepted into a highly selective program with a global acceptance rate of just 5%.

Why Stanford?

Curiosity has always been the driving force behind everything I do. From my first exposure to global citizenship and social impact through a fully-funded exchange program with the University of Pennsylvania, I realized the power of combining education, technology, and leadership to create change.

After working at my university’s Office of Graduate School Curation Program, I traveled alone for the first time through public transport. This experience opened my eyes to the struggles women face in public spaces in Pakistan. I began to wonder: What if design and technology could improve these everyday challenges?

As a student of Computer Science deeply interested in the intersection of technology, storytelling, and social good, I believe Stanford is the perfect place for me to grow. From its human-centered design philosophy to its focus on interdisciplinary learning, everything about Stanford aligns with the kind of thinker, leader, and human being I strive to become.
Attending this program would mean exposure to rigorous coursework in global leadership, entrepreneurship, and tech ethics, areas that are deeply connected to the future I envision for myself: one where I can build inclusive, purpose-driven technology for communities like mine, back home in Pakistan.

Ways to Contribute:

I’ve been awarded a 75% scholarship, but I need your help to cover the remaining 25%. Your support can make all the difference!

• Contribute: Any donation, big or small, will help cover my program fees, travel, and accommodation.

• Spread the Word: Sharing this with your network could bring in valuable support.

• Corporate Partnerships: If you’re connected to organizations that could offer sponsorships, I’d appreciate the introduction!

A Final Note:

Thank you for reading this far. I truly believe that dreams become real when communities come together, and if you’ve made it here, you’re now a part of mine. Even if you can’t donate, your support, encouragement, and prayers mean the world.

With gratitude and hope,
Hazeera Muhammad Hashim
