Help our beloved community space with operations, financial recovery, and future outreach goals.

Your contributions will make it so that the shop will be able to bring on an employee, (as it has just been me), meet anticipated expansion plans, and replace broken equipment. The expansion of the space is not only anticipated in the lease contract, but will expand my offerings to include more menu items and more of your favorite events like Comedy Night and Knit Night, as well as skill share classes, yoga and meditation classes, youth study halls with experienced and inclusive educators, real-life home economics courses for all ages, career readiness programs, and more to make a positive impact on my community. This young business is ineligible for most loans and grants, due to a lack of tax records for the past 1-2 years, so I am asking the community to contribute what they can to this project of resilience and positivity.

Hi, my name is Eva. Seeing a need for an uplifting, resilient and sober nightlife spot in my community of Asheville, NC I decided to take action by starting a coffee shop open at night called Haywood Famous. After a year of careful preparation and six months of operations, shortly after opening the business, it sustained hardship from a burst pipe and a month later, from an unprecedented storm & flood in my community. 

Like many small businesses in Asheville, I was relying on the fall tourist season that never came to make my way to the future expansion of my business and while we came out the other side with the building intact, the shop has not fully recovered financially to meet these challenges and goals. Between the burst pipe and the hurricane, the business closed its doors for an unanticipated 6 weeks combined. Keeping in mind that some lost all, I have overcome these challenges as much as I could without asking for financial support. And while, I have managed to maintain some stability internally, the time has come where the next way to adapt is to ask for help. With the business being so young, it is not eligible for grants and loans, which require tax documents for up to two years of business. That is where the community comes in.

Haywood Famous has already made a big impact in the community, with local news articles, community members, and regulars stating that this space is special to them, with some customers citing traveling for hours to come back to the space because of how special it is to them. This spot is beloved, and if you have something to give, I would appreciate any contributions you can put forward so, as a community, we can continue this work.
