Help Hayley Recover from Totaled Car Accident

Hello there-

Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Hayley and you might know me from my volunteering as a story writer at Twin Mask LARP. Unfortunately, as I was driving home from that very event, I was in a car accident and my car was totaled. Thankfully, everyone involved walked away okay, but the loss of my car has created a significant challenge that I’m not financially prepared for.

The timing for this makes my situation pretty difficult- I am planning on moving apartments to somewhere more affordable in July, and doing so without a car is going to be that much harder.

I’m a freelance web and graphic designer, and I rely on project-based work that can be feast or famine. Not having a reliable way to get around is going to make looking for consistent work and a new place to live much more difficult and has added a lot of stress to an already transitional time. For example, my car is all the way out in Pomona, the towing office is open from 8 to 5, and I’m working at USC this week from 9 to 5.

That’s why I’m starting this GoFundMe—to ask for help in covering the costs of buying a used car. Your support will go directly toward towing costs for my totaled car and purchasing a dependable vehicle. If I have any extra, that will go towards essential moving expenses like renting moving equipment. Every donation—even $20—will make a huge difference and bring me one step closer to regaining my independence.

Asking for help is really difficult for me- I’d much rather be the one helping. But while I was on the freeway next to my wrecked car, a group of my friends saw me and pulled over. They gave me hugs, water bottles, dried pears, and a battery for my phone charger. They said, “our community shows up for each other,” and yes I did cry.
