Help Hayden Fight His Way Back
On September 20th, Hayden fell approximately 10–13 feet from a tree. He had been safely secured with a harness and climbing equipment, but after removing his harness to climb down, he slipped and fell backward, landing flat on his back.
The fall resulted in fractures to his T8 and T9 vertebrae, and he immediately lost feeling and movement in both of his legs.
Thankfully, Hayden’s dad was there and called 911 immediately. Hayden is now stable and preparing to begin the next phase of his recovery and rehabilitation.
Hayden has a long road ahead of him. He has been transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he will begin intensive rehabilitation focused on regaining as much strength, movement, and independence as possible. While no one can predict exactly what his recovery will look like, Hayden is determined to fight for every bit of progress.
For Hayden, this fight is deeply personal. He and his fiancée are planning to get married next October, and one of his biggest goals is to be able to walk down the aisle.
Anyone who knows Hayden knows that he is no stranger to hard work, perseverance, and being part of a team. As a former Kansas State football player, he experienced the power of the K-State family firsthand, and that brotherhood has continued to show up for him during this incredibly difficult time.
Hayden has also made it clear that this isn’t a story he wants defined by what he has lost. He is focused on what comes next, surrounded by an incredible village of family, friends, teammates, and loved ones who are ready to fight alongside him.
This fundraiser will help Hayden and his family navigate the significant expenses that come with a life-changing injury and a lengthy rehabilitation—medical and rehabilitation costs, travel and lodging for family, accessibility needs, and the many unexpected expenses that will come with this journey.
If you are able to contribute, every donation will help give Hayden the time, resources, and support he needs to focus on his recovery. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this page, sending a message, or keeping Hayden and his family in your prayers means just as much.
Hayden has a long road ahead—but he is ready to fight.
Keep fighting, Hayden. We’re all behind you.
