Help Hayat & Muna Move! (Pest Infested Apartment)

Hello everyone!

My name is Hayat! I'm fundraising for myself and my cat (Muna) in the hopes of alleviating some of the financial stress I've been dealing with for the past four months.

So what's been going on? I moved into this beautiful apartment around mid May, surrounded by beautiful parks and affordable grocery stores. Yet since then, I've been in a battle with my landlord about pests within my unit and within the property.

First it started with mice, where they were able to get inside my pantry, and even inside my bedroom. It took a total of four months, several letters and the wonderful cooperation of tenants to get an extermination done for the mice. At this point, I believed the fighting was over. I thought I stood up for myself and finally got to have my apartment back. But I was wrong. After talking with tenants, I was made aware that there was someone in the floor below me, who was living with bed bugs.

I believe that because this landlord dragged their feet on the mice situation, they will drag their feet on this. I cannot spend another four months or even longer, especially during the winter, fighting a parasitic landlord and trying to convince them that I deserve to live in a clean and safe place.

I am left with no choice but to break lease and move. And I'm hoping to get a little help.

How the money will be use:

1) Because I'll be moving, I need to have a 100% certainty that I do not have bed bugs. In order to do that, I'll be hiring an exterminator to do an assessment on my belongings. This can range from anywhere between 1000-3000 dollars.

2) I'll be cutting the quantity of my belongings down to half, as I said want to make sure I do not bring any trace of bedbugs to this new place. I hope to replace some of these things such as winter clothing and bedding stuff.

3) And finally, because I'll be breaking lease and moving on very short notice, I'll be hit with the extra costs that comes with that and I want to be prepared for when that happens.
