Hi, I'm Ana, and I'm a former journalist fundraising for my friend Ella’s mother and her family, who are trying to get to Egypt for their safety. Living in a war zone, they lack clean water, food, shelter and medical care. They desperately need treatment for malnutrition, infections and chronic illnesses as well as perinatal care for Ella’s mother and her newborn.
How the funds will be used:
- Living expenses: The family currently needs a tent, food, clothing, blankets and other necessities, including diapers for Haya's infant daughter, Ella. In Egypt, funds will be used for food, medical treatment and rent on an apartment while the family begins working to cover their expenses.
- Travel fees: Each adult in the family must pay $5,000 to cross the border into Egypt, and each child under age 16 must pay $2,500. There are 17 family members, including Haya's parents, her two brothers and two sisters and their partners, and all of their children.
Here are the details of the Ella’s motherfamily's circumstances in Haya's own words:
Dear kind hearts of the world,
My name is Haya, and I am a resident of Gaza, a place once filled with joy and laughter but now marred by the scars of conflict. At 27 years old, I find myself grappling with a reality I never imagined—a reality where each day brings new challenges and uncertainties.
In the blink of an eye, my family was displaced from our home, which was severely damaged due to bombardments. During the ongoing war, my family lost many loved ones. The business that my family owns was affected after my father lost many of our shops. Our lives changed forever.

My brother Hassan strives to shield his two young children, Alaa and Taim, from the horrors that surround us. Meanwhile, my other brother Mohammed, alongside his own family, navigates the treacherous landscape of displacement and despair.
As for my sisters, Heba and Hala, their dreams lie shattered, their hopes for a better tomorrow fading with each passing day. Heba, a mother to three young children, battles against the tide of hunger and despair, while Hala's once-bright future dims in the shadow of destruction.
Amidst the chaos, my own struggles take hold—a battle with panic attacks that threatens to consume me, leaving me gasping for air in a world suffocated by fear.
But it is not just our physical and emotional well-being that hangs in the balance. Our very survival is at stake as we grapple with power outages, water shortages, and the gnawing ache of hunger. My nephews and nieces, innocent souls caught in the crossfire, bear the brunt of this suffering, their laughter replaced by the hollow echoes of despair.
Even our beloved pet, Koky the cat, shares in our plight, his plaintive meows a heartbreaking reminder of everything lost in the chaos of war.

In total, we are a family of 17, bound together by love and a shared desire for a better future. We are raising funds that will help us survive in the war zone and that will help get my family to Egypt. Each adult needs to pay $5,000 to be able to travel, and children under the age of 16 need to pay $2,500. The money will be transferred to one of our relatives in Egypt, who will pay the fees for our travel.
With your support, we dare to dream of a life free from fear and uncertainty—a life where our children can laugh, play, and thrive once more.
Please, open your hearts to our plea and help us find a path to safety and security. Together, we can rewrite the narrative of our lives, turning tragedy into triumph and despair into hope.
With deepest gratitude,
om elia
My name is Rosan Noufal, and I am from Gaza. I write to you today from the heart of unimaginable hardship. Since the war began, my life and my father’s life have been turned upside down. I lost my beloved mother in the bombing, and with her, we lost our home and everything we owned — my father’s factories, clothing stores, and even the car my mother once gifted me, now reduced to rubble. Today, I live with my elderly father, Waleed , who is 81 years old and suffers from serious health problems: a stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes. His condition is worsening, and he urgently needs surgery abroad. But we have no means to cover the costs of travel and treatment. We are now without a real home, without safety, and without a stable income. Our living conditions are extremely difficult — we struggle to secure enough food and medicine. With my father’s age and fragile health, I carry the responsibility alone, but I hold on to the hope that there are compassionate hearts out there who can be our lifeline. Your donation — no matter how small — could save my father’s life, secure the urgent medical care he needs, and give us a chance to start again. We believe that in our darkest moments, God sends people who can carry some of our pain. From our hearts, thank you to everyone who reaches out to help us.
