My name is Mikia, and I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my family and our small, family-run farm, Hawaii Fish Company. We are part of the Mokuleia/Waialua/Haleiwa community and are currently recovering from the devastating flooding caused by the Kona Low storms.
Our farm was evacuated due to rapidly rising water levels. We returned to extreme flooding that submerged our pondside buildings and destroyed equipment stored inside. The fish pond where we raise our fish rose over 15 feet from the inflow of stormwater, reaching the roof of our buildings. One week later and the buildings are still partially submerged and we are still without power.
Our GoFundMe is to help get our farm back up and running. Our primary concern is to provide much-needed aeration and water to our fish hatchery. The funds will be used specifically to replace equipment lost in the submerged buildings. This includes a water pump for circulating water, a generator and air compressor for providing aeration, and a commercial scale for weighing fish for sales, as well as termite treatment for the waterlogged buildings and commercial-grade fans for drying out the buildings.
We are grateful for any support you are able to provide to help our farm recover. Mahalo!
