Help Haven Mae run again
Donation protected
Haven was purchased as a rescue after Hurricane Harvey. Originally, the plan was she would be trained as my service dog. I had suddenly lost my sight 10 years prior. After three rounds of training, it became obvious that she was not cut out for that kind of work but during that time she became even more valuable as my emotional support dog. Since my sudden loss of sight, I have developed an extreme anxiety disorder. She's sweet, gentle and totally tuned into my feelings making it easier to function outside my home. I really would be lost without her.
About 3 weeks ago, Haven was out in the yard when she noticed a squirrel. In Haven's world squirrel is synonymous with chase, so off she went. She's a big girl and unfortunately when the squirrel zigged and Haven attempted a similar move, her ACL zagged and tore. What extra money I have has been used for her vet visits, x-rays and pain medication. Now, because of the stress on her "good" leg, that ACL is beginning to tear. The vet said this is common. She needs her ACL surgically repaired.
I live on disability payments and can save little by little. However, in a conversation with the vet yesterday, he said the surgery should be done sooner rather than later. Since, it will take me over a year to save the amount of money needed, I fear her second leg will give out. She's barely able to get around now, time is important. It is critical the surgery be performed as soon as possible repairing the torn ACL and preventing damage to her other leg.
I would be immensely grateful for any donation in any amount. EVERYTHING will help.
