Hi everyone, this is Amy and Jackson and we created this go fund me for our mate Scott.

Scott is 31 years old who has currently had emergency open heart surgery in Canada whilst on a snowboarding holiday. Any support you can offer will make a world of difference.

Scott’s Journey:
18 months ago in June 2022, Scott’s life changed instantly when he was rushed to hospital suffering severe chest pains. After multiple tests and scans, it was discovered that he had an aortic dissection, which is where the wall of his aorta split.

After been transferred from Sutherland Hospital to St George Hospital, he was immediately rushed in for open heart surgery and had a mechanical aortic valve placed and replaced aorta.

After a long recovery, not being able to work as a plumber for 3 months, regular doctor visits and on-going medication he was eternally grateful to his medical team who saved his life!

A few months later, after having trouble with his sight it was discovered he had a stroke. His doctors believe this was caused by blood clots after his surgery that stuck to the valve and broke off in small sections. Thankfully being the tough human, he is, and having the support from his family, friends and most importantly his best buddy Bear (his English Bulldog) once again defied odds and fought his way back to good health.

He returned to work, got fit and returned to his passion of travelling, riding bikes, snowboarding and even recently completed a triathlon which shows how strong and healthy he was.

Unfortunately, two weeks ago, whilst in Canada on a snowboarding holiday Scott became unwell again. After checking in to Whistler hospital with severe headaches, and multiple tests he was diagnosed with a bleed on the brain. Since then, he was transferred to Vancouver for more tests where it was discovered he had an abscess on his heart valve, which would need to be replaced. During this time, it was discovered that they couldn’t operate when they originally wanted to, due to him having a heart attack.

Scott has now had open heart surgery, for the second time. This time replacing the valve with a human valve, instead of a mechanical valve.
His medical team are hoping this will prevent on-going infections on his valve, however the downside means he will have to have the surgery again in 5-10 years. He is now recovering in ICU. Once he is released, he will then need to recover in an Air bnb, until he is fit to travel back to Australia. His mum Fiona has flown over for two weeks to support him through the stressful procedure.

Unfortunately, even once Scott is well enough to fly, he still has a long road to recovery. This will mean he is unable to work for the next 3-4 months and daily hospital visits for the next 6 weeks for intravenous antibiotics.I know Scott is tough and won't let this beat him, but a little bit of help is needed, so he can focus on his health and recovery.

This go-fund me is set up to help alleviate some of the growing financial burden that have occurred whilst over in Canada and help him get back on his feet, whilst he isn’t working.

No Matter How Small, You Can Make a Difference:
• Please donate what you can. Your compassion will uplift his spirits and show him he isn’t alone, and that people genuinely care.
• If you're not in a position to donate, just sharing Scott’s story with your friends and families will also be a huge help.

Please help if you can ♥️♥️♥️♥️
